Boxing day hotspots now locations of interest

There have been eight locations of interest announced for the Bay of Plenty today, with a large number of the establishments being retail stores visited on Boxing Day. 

The locations include Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Rotorua and Opotiki.

Those who have visited any of the below places of interest are told to self-monitor for Covid-19 symptoms for 10 days after you were exposed. 

If symptoms develop, get a test and stay at home until you get a negative test result.

Places of interest include:

  • Skyline Rotorua on Wednesday 29 December from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm

  • Event Cinemas Tauranga Crossing Mall Tauriko on Monday 27 December from 2:20 pm-6:00 pm

  • Katsubi Bayfair Shopping Centre Mount Maunganui on Sunday 26 December from 11:40 am - 1:10 pm

  • Dotti Bayfair Shopping Centre Mount Maunganui on Sunday 26 December from 12:45 pm - 2:05 pm

  • Platypus Shoes Tauranga Crossings Mall Tauriko on Monday 27 December from 1:20 pm - 2:45 pm

  • Hello Sushi Tauranga Crossing Mall on Monday 27 December from 12:50 pm - 2:30 pm

  • Macpac Bayfair Shopping Centre Mt Maunganui on Sunday 26 December from 12:34 pm - 1:57 pm

  • Ohiwa Beach Holiday Park Opotiki on Monday 27 December from 2:00 pm - Friday 31 December at 8:00 am

yes - be vaxed

Yes, the vaccination does work in reducing your chance of catching and spreading Covid - by over 90 per cent. It also reduces your chance of needing to be hospitalised by around the same amount. That does however leave a small chance of spreading, hence these warnings. The fact that most of these warnings result in very few, or no cases, confirms how well the vaccinations are working.

But its starting to look like in Tauranga "if you don’t need to go there - DON’T "!!!! Clearly there are "residents" that have been "mixing it" OUTSIDE the TGA area and are happy to keep doing so WITHIN the TGA area !!
