Powerball player takes home $17 million

Wednesday will be a night to remember for a lucky Powerball player after winning $17.2 million with Powerball First Division.
The winning ticket was sold at Victoria Street Lotto & Newsagency in Auckland and the prize is made up of $17 million from Powerball First Division and $200,000 from Lotto First Division.
Wednesday night’s winner is the 21stt Powerball winner so far this year and comes just weeks after a player from Tauranga won $6.3 million with Powerball.
Four lucky Lotto players from Auckland and Waikato will also be celebrating after each winning $200,000 with Lotto First Division.
The winning tickets were sold at Victoria Street Lotto & Newsagency in Auckland, New World New Lynn in Auckland and on MyLotto to players from Northland and Waikato, says a Lotto spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Strike Four has rolled over tonight and will be $700,000 on Saturday night.
"All of Aotearoa New Zealand is now in the Covid-19 Protection Framework - otherwise known as the traffic light settings.
"Lotto NZ counters can open at all traffic light settings providing retailers comply with health and safety guidelines set out by the Ministry of Health.:
Auckland is due to move to the Orange traffic light setting at 11.59pm on December 30.
"As a result, planning and preparation is now underway for Lotto NZ to recommence the live Lotto draw, with the first live draw scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 8.
"Until then, we will continue using computer generated draws under Audit New Zealand scrutiny for Lotto, Powerball, and Strike.
"Anyone who bought their ticket from any of the above winning stores should write their name on the back of their ticket and check it at any Lotto NZ outlet, online at MyLotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ App. "
Players can phone Lotto NZ on 0800 695 6886 if they want to enquire about the best way to claim a prize.
