SH29A now clear after two truck crash near Hairini

UPDATED: 4:15pm: State Highway 29A near Hairini is now clear after a truck rolled blocking two lanes.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport agency is advising the truck has been removed.

The westbound lane of SH29A was completely blocked as well as one eastbound lane

Police were notified of the two-vehicle collision on SH29A at 1:53pm.

UPDATED 2.15pm: Two trucks have crashed on State Highway 29A near the Hairini roundabout.

Tauranga City Council is advising one truck has rolled and the trailer is blocking lanes just past the Hairini roundabout.

The westbound lane of SH29A is completely blocked as is one eastbound lane.

Council is advising people to use an alternative route and that the highway might close for vehicle recovery.

A police spokesperson says police were notified of a two-vehicle collision on SH29A at 1:53pm.

They say one person has moderate injuries.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport agency says to allow extra time for delays and the detour.

NZTA is advising the following alternative route:

Westbound traffic: Left onto Welcome Bay Rd, right onto Ohauti Rd, right onto Poike Rd, left onto SH29A.

EARLIER: Reports are coming in of a crash on State Highway 29A near the Hairini roundabout.

A Caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says a truck has rolled on the highway just past the roundabout.

They say it is blocking a lane and traffic is already backing up.
