70 community cases and over 30 locations in BOP

More locations of interest were announced on Friday and the weekend including Bayfair Shopping Centre, supermarkets, churches, a library and butchery.

Over 30 new locations of interest in Maketu, Pāpāmoa, Te Puke, Gate Pa, Bethlehem and Mount Maunganui have been announced in the Bay of Plenty since Friday.

The total number of community cases in the Western Bay of Plenty rose to 70 by Sunday.

Maketu Landing has been noted as a new location of interest on Sunday.

In Te Puke, the locations of interest are Te Puke New World, Waipuna Hospice Shop Te Puke, Countdown Te Puke, Bridgestone Tyres, Te Puke Home Cookery and Advantage Tyres.

In Pāpāmoa, the locations of interest are Countdown Pāpāmoa, The Warehouse Pāpāmoa, Pāpāmoa Library, Doug Jarvis Butcher & Deli Pāpāmoa Beach, Blackberry Eatery Fashion Island, Bendon Outlet Fashion Island Pāpāmoa, Paper Plus Pāpāmoa Plaza, PAK’nSAVE Pāpāmoa, and Hello sushi, Pāpāmoa.

At Mount Maunganui the new locations of interest are Bunnings Warehouse Mt Maunganui,  Supercheap Auto Mount Maunganui, RHYTHM 'N' FUN Line Dancing Class St Mary's Anglican Church Mt Maunganui, St Mary's Anglican Church Mt Maunganui, Farmers Bayfair, Life Pharmacy Bayfair, Bayfair Shopping Centre itself, Mecca Maxima Bayfair, and JB Hi Fi Bayfair.

In Tauranga, new locations of interest are St Vincent De Paul Tauranga Op Shop, Cameronian Dairy, Tauranga Hospital Emergency Department, New World Supermarket at Gate Pa, PAK'nSAVE Cameron Road Tauranga

Bethlehem Baptist Church has also been listed as a new location of interest.

Blackberry Eatery Fashion Island and RHYTHM 'N' FUN Line Dancing Class St Mary's Anglican Church Mt Maunganui are both regarded as high risk locations. The Ministry of Health advise that anyone visiting Blackberry Eatery needs to self-isolate, test immediately and test again on day 5 after being exposed at this location of interest. Further isolation and testing requirements will be provided by Public Health.

"Record your visit online or call Healthline so our contact tracers can get in touch," says a Ministry of Health spokesperson.

For the other locations of interest people are advised to self-monitor for Covid-19 symptoms for ten days after being exposed.

“If symptoms develop, get a test and stay at home until you get a negative test result,” says a Ministry of Health spokesperson.
