Rain at times this long weekend

Rain is on the way for Labour Weekend.

Rain and showers are on the way for parts of NZ over the coming days.

WeatherWatch.co.nz says the rain is coming as a low pressure deepens in the Tasman Sea and is blocked moving away due to high pressure in the NZ area.

"The high pressure belt will slow down the movement of the low...and the low is where the rain clouds are. This set up means some pockets of NZ will have some heavy, slow moving, rain - while others nearby have next to nothing.

"We already saw that this morning as rain moved towards Auckland then mostly moved out to sea before reaching the city."

Rainfall totals will vary - so to drill down deeper look at the daily totals at WeatherWatch.co.nz - or see rainfall come to life in the graphs we have at www.RuralWeather.co.nz.

"More rain is expected on Labour Day Monday in both main islands as low pressure finally moves in - and high pressure finally moves away for a time."
