The PM is expected to address the nation today.

Cabinet will decide today whether to change Covid-19 alert levels, as case numbers keep rising.

Critical decisions for Auckland today include whether schools go back when term 4 starts next week.

A case in the Bay of Plenty has had everyone on tenter hooks, after a person who had travelled from Auckland to Katikati tested positive on Saturday.

This morning, media are reporting the case returned a negative result overnight.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is reported to have said that the person who travelled from Auckland to Katikati had returned a negative Covid test result overnight - as has their family.

Case numbers jumped to 60 on Sunday, the most in nearly six weeks, with 56 of of the new community infections in Auckland.

Over the weekend Waikato had six cases. Northland had no new cases but there is uncertainty over the movements of an infected Auckland woman who travelled around the region.

Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins says ministers will take into account the latest numbers of cases and whether they include unlinked infections in making any decisions.

Last week the government announced a three-step plan for easing Auckland's alert level restrictions, before Northland moved to level 3 on Friday.

Cabinet is reviewing the alert levels for all regions today.
