Investigations are underway after a fishing boat and container ship reportedly collided in the Bay of Plenty.

The New Zealand-registered fishing vessel the ‘Commission’ is reported to have been involved with a collision with the Singapore-flagged container ship Kota Lembeh in the early hours of July 28.

According to a statement from the Transport Accident Investigation Commission, the collision happened about 70km out from the Port of Tauranga.

No injuries were reported among the four crew members on board the fishing vessel. However, the TAIC report there was damage to the boat.

The Kota Lembeh was left unscathed.

The investigation is ongoing.
