Reserve Bank Governor to speak at public meeting
The current state and future projections for our economy will come under the spotlight this Friday when Reserve Bank Governor Adrian Orr presents at a public meeting.
Organised by Mana Taiao Events, director Buddy Mikaere says they’re expecting a full house for the free public presentation.
“Bringing the Governor to Tauranga is part of a longer-term strategy to have a range of speakers come and present in Tauranga on important issues that affect New Zealand’s fastest growing city.”
Dubbed to be an informative and engaging discussion, Buddy says Adrian Orr is known for his straightforward the presentations.
“I have heard Adrian Orr speak on a number of occasions and each time he has been able to engage comfortably with his audience and present what seems to be very complex ideas in a way and manner that everyone can quickly grasp,” says Buddy.
“I am looking forward very much to hearing what he has to say about our current economic situation as a country and what the implications are for our communities with the new policy announcements coming out of central government.”
The second in the new “Kanohi-ki-Kanohi” (Face-to-Face) speaker series, Buddy says it’s about raising our level of thinking on important issues.
“Mana Taiao Events has teamed up with the Tauranga Maori Business Association and many other local business interests to bring Adrian Orr to Tauranga as part of our series.
“Last week we had the Productivity Commissioner speak to a captive audience on a theme that economic well-being went hand in hand with social and cultural well-being.
“We are running these events because we know better information results in better decisions.”
The free event is sponsored by the Urban Task Force, the Tauranga City Council, the Port of Tauranga and Priority 1 and will be held at the Tauranga Yacht Club at 8am this Friday, July 30.
Future speaking events, as part of the series, include one with the Minister for Transport, Michael Wood and Tauranga’s transport issues; and an invitation has also gone to Dr Ashley Bloomfield to come and talk on the Covid landscape.
