Pedestrian seriously injured after SH30 incident
A pedestrian has been left in a serious condition after reportedly being hit by a car in Whakatāne.
Police were notified of the incident on SH30, Coastlands at 4.40pm today.
“Police are responding to a car versus pedestrian on SH30 – Coastlands,” says a police spokesperson.
“One person is in a serious condition following this incident.”

Police advise that the serious crash unit are currently investigating and that the road is currently closed.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
Waka Kotahi NZTA state that the road is closed between Keepa Rd and Huna Rd.
“Follow directions of emergency services on-site and expect delays,” says a Waka Kotahi statement.
