Mount singer’s new single competes for $100k prize
Tauranga singer Skye Hine has created a new single - Outlier - which will be released this Friday.
The 16-year-old Mount Maunganui student is one of the top four finalists of Popstars, all competing to win the grand prize of $100,000.
All four contestants will be playing their tracks at a concert at Auckland's Powerstation that same night.
Skye, who lives in Welcome Bay with her family, says her single is literally about being the "outlier", some different, who stands apart.
“By this, I mean being a recluse and coming from a place of self-doubt, only to transform into a totally different entity on stage.”
Musician Kings is also performing at the concert on Friday.
Kimbra, one of the Popstars panel, will perform her new single ‘replay’ off her upcoming fourth album.
The winner of Popstars 2021 will be revealed on Wednesday, June 2, where Skye will find out if she’s done enough to walk away with the $100,000 prize.
