Teenager killed in BOP crash
Police say they are “likely to lay charges in due course”, as an investigation into a crash which killed a Bay of Plenty teenager continues.
Fourteen-year-old Lance Freeman was killed in a crash in Opotiki on May 14.
Police were called to the crash at the intersection of Bridge and Goring streets at 5.50pm.
At the time of the crash, a police spokesperson said the motorbike rider was critically injured and medical attention was provided, but they died at the scene.
In a statement released today, police confirmed Lance Freeman as the teenager killed in the crash.
“Our thoughts are with his whanau and loved ones.
“Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the crash and it's likely charges will be laid in due course.”
