Traffic congestion expected on BOP highways

People heading back into the Bay of Plenty after the long weekend are being warned to expect delays on the highways.

Heavy traffic is expected to clog up State Highway 29 and State Highway 2, heading into Tauranga.

Waka Kotahi Transport Agency is expecting traffic to be busy westbound  on SH29 through the Kaimai Range from 10am to 3pm.

"Road users are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their journeys or consider travelling outside this period. Please drive to the conditions."

SH2 is not looking much better.

The roading agency is predicting the highway to be congested in both directions from Waihi to Tauranga between 10am and 5pm.

Delays are also being forecast for SH25 near Tairua.

"Traffic is expected to be busy southbound through this area from 9am to 7pm.

"Please drive to the conditions."
