Tauranga children’s ward to host fundraiser ball
Tauranga Hospital children’s ward are putting on a charity ball to fundraise for a multi-sensory trolley which helps ease the pain of child patients.
The trolley, as well other sensory equipment, will provide stimuli within the playroom, procedure rooms and at the bedsides of the children at Tauranga Hospital.
Nurse Moira Yates says the trolley can provide a calming place for all children during difficult times.
“This equipment is essential to help with recovery, pain distraction and general wellbeing of the children who are staying in hospital.”
BY selling raffle tickets and tickets to the charity ball, they hope to fundraise $10,000 - $15,000 for the trolley which will possibly come from the United Kingdom.
The ball will have music, entertainment, a bar, a raffle, live bands and canapes. Moira says the trolley will be particularly beneficial for children with developmental delays and autism.
The ward is appealing for help from Tauranga businesses to sponsor the event.
Moira says in return, businesses will get unlimited advertising at the event, including promotion on social media, and tables to promote the company.
She says any help would be greatly appreciated by the children’s ward, including donations to be used in the raffle and auction.
Moira says to date local business have been incredibly generous and wants to thank their support.
The ball will be held on February 13 at Baypark, tickets available from Eventbrite.
