Cyclist seriously injured in Te Puke crash
Update 1.10pm: One person is seriously injured follwing a crash between a car and a cyclist in Te Puke.
A police spokesperson says they were called to the incident at the intersection of Te Puke Highway and Collins Lane at 12.30pm.
"The car involved has left the scene, and the cyclist is seriously injured," says the spokesperson.
Road closures will be put in place.
Earlier: Reports are coming in of a crash between a car and cyclist near Te Puke.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern communications shift manager Craig Dally says they were called to the crash on Te Puke Highway near Collins Lane at 12.27pm.
"Ambulance have just arrived on scene."
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says it appears a cyclist has been hit."
"Police are diverting traffic down Manoeka Road.
"Firefighters are also at the scene."
