A restaurant in Greerton will treat more than 100 people in need to a free Christmas lunch of curry, rice and naan bread next week.

Castle 91 manager Mike Dhillion took to Facebook saying it’s been a tough year for many people in Tauranga, so it’s important to help people who are struggling financially.

“Many people lost their lives, jobs, businesses and much more. Being human we need to stand with each other - so let’s celebrate this Christmas with people who can’t afford it.”

He says there will be vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available, and has asked people to register their interest before turning up.

Mike says the restaurant has been in Greerton for about four years now, and they owe it to the community to give back.

“We get so much support from locals, it is important for us to give something back.

“We want everyone to enjoy this special occasion.”

The free lunch will run from 11am to 2pm on December 23 at 1339 Cameron Road in Greerton.

People who are keen to attend are encouraged to call 07-543 3191 beforehand.
