The driver of a vehicle which crashed head-on into a steel barrier is lucky not to have suffered serious injuries.

Emergency services, including the Matata Volunteer Fire Brigade, were called to the single vehicle crash on State Highway 2, at Pikowai, at 11.30pm on Sunday.

“We pulled together crews for MATA841 and MATA9433 then headed West,” says a post on the Matata Volunteer Fire Brigade Facebook page.

“At the scene, we found a car stoved head on into an armco, with the driver resting in a nearby car.

“He was relatively uninjured, unlike the car which took a significant amount of extracting from its resting place.

“Once that was done we headed back home.”

Did you know the barriers only jump out when the driver is using there cell phone, I wander why.

oh dear, now these barriers are jumping out onto the road along with trees poles ditches etc.
