A lightning strike is being put down as the cause to a power cut where 14 properties have been affected.

Powerco says the supply went out at 10.14am on Tuesday and is expected back on sometime today.

A lightning strike is also being blamed for a power outage in the Te Puke area. About 14 houses have been without power since 10.30am on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a site investigation is underway into the cause of an outage in Tauranga where 11 properties have been affected.

Powerco says the supply went down at 6.16pm and is expected to be on around 11.30am.
