Rain expected over next two days
The MetService advise that on Monday a front will move onto the North Island, and becoming slow-moving there through Tuesday,
“There is still low confidence of significant rainfall amounts over the northwest
of the South Island overnight and Monday morning,” says a Metservice spokesperson.
“Also on Monday, there is moderate confidence that rainfall accumulations will meet warning criteria over the Tararua Range.
“During Monday and Tuesday, there is low confidence of significant widespread rain from Taranaki over the central high country to East Cape.”
The MetService says that another front should cross the lower South Island overnight Tuesday and
Wednesday morning, bringing a short burst of heavy rain to Fiordland, and possibly very brief snow about some higher roads.
“But at this stage neither is expected to meet warning criteria.
“A ridge of high pressure should move in from the west behind this front.”
