Drop-in sessions for Matakana Island plans
Western Bay of Plenty District Council are holding a drop-in session today on Matakana Island for those who wish to have a say about the plans for 170ha to be returned to iwi.
There are also two further drop-in sessions planned and an online option for those unable to attend the information days.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council has voted to progress a proposed return of ownership of Panepane Purakau at the the eastern end of Matakana Island to five local hapu.
The public has an opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed return.
To find out more and have a say, the public is invited to join Council staff at the drop-in session at Opureora Marae, Matakana Island today Saturday August 8 from 10am - 2pm.

Omokoroa (departs): 7.45am, 9am, 2pm, 4pm.
Returns from Matakana Island: 8.30am, 9.30am, 2.30pm, 4.30pm.
For those unable to attend the drop-in session today, Western Bay Council will also be holding two other community information days.
The next drop-in session will be held at the Omokoroa Boat Club, on Saturday August 15 from 10am - 2pm. Following that a further drop-in session will be held at the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club at Sulphur Point on Saturday August 22 from 10am - 2pm.
