4.9M quake near Rotorua

A light earthquake has rattled the central North Island about 8.40am today.

Geonet says the 4.9 magnitude earthquake happened at a depth of 107km and was centred about 30km south of Rotorua.

More than 2500 people across the North Island reported feeling it.
