Name suppression for BOP murder accused

The murder accused appeared in Rotorua Court today.

A 59-year-old facing one charge of murder has been granted interim name suppression.

The murder accused made his first appearance at Rotorua District Court today.

He had been arrested after another man's body was located at an Owhata address on Wednesday.

A police scene guard remained at the address overnight and a scene examination is being carried out today.

The alleged offender, who appeared via audio visual link on Thursday, was remanded in custody until a High Court appearance on June 12.

Judge Tony Snell granted name suppression and also agreed to a request to suppress the name of the alleged victim by Police, who said formal identification has yet to be completed.
