A return to zero: No new COVID-19 cases today

New Zealand has recorded no new cases of COVID-19 since yesterday, the Health Ministry has confirmed.

In a statement released this afternoon, the Ministry of Health says the total number of confirmed and probable cases in New Zealand remains at 1498, of which 1148 are confirmed.

The Ministry says 1428 people have now recovered from coronavrius, an increase of seven on yesterday. The amount of recovered people make up 95 per cent of all confirmed and probable cases.

Today there are three people receiving hospital care for COVID-19, in Auckland, Middlemore and Waikato hospitals. None of them are in intensive care.

This is one more person in hospital than yesterday - the person in Waikato Hospital.

Yesterday’s confirmed case of COVID-19, linked to the Marist College cluster in Auckland, was the first after three days of zero reported cases.

There have been no additional deaths and the country still has 16 significant clusters.

Yesterday 7,150 tests were carried out bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 223,937.
