Traffic management in in place on State Highway 2 Karangahake Gorge after a rock slip overnight.

The NZ Transport Agency is reporting that due to a rock fall near Jackson Road, Stop/Go traffic control is in place.

Expect delays and pass the scene with care, says NZTA.

The slip occurred around 9:30pm and NZTA has not advised when the issue will be resolved.

The NZTA is recommending the following alternative route for southbound traffic to Tauranga, State Highway 26 at Paeroa then State Highway 27 and State Highway 29 to Tauranga.
