Police make enquiries after Welcome Bay pursuit

Updated 1.45pm: Police are making enquiries following a pursuit a near Welcome Bay last night. 

A police spokesperson says they observed a vehicle speeding along Welcome Bay Road around 10.40pm yesterday and signaled it to stop.

“The vehicle failed to stop and fled. Police followed for a short while but abandoned it due to the manner of driving. 

“Enquiries are ongoing to locate the offender.” 

At this stage there does not appear to be any relation to this incident and the vehicle towed on Haukore Street in Harini, says the spokesperson. 

Earlier: A large police presence was spotted in Welcome Bay and Harini last night. 

A SunLive reader has messaged us on Facebook saying there were lots of police in Welcome Bay and Harini at about 11pm last night. 

“There were police at Welcome Bay roundabouts, and lots of them in Haukore Street, Harini.

“A car on Haukore St was towed away by Rowe Motors.”
