An estimated 10 per cent of the country's workforce is likely to work at home and four Auckland schools are closed today because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The government is urging people to work remotely where possible to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Saturday New Zealanders should stop non-essential travel and people over 70 or who have compromised immunity should stay at home as much as possible.
Meanwhile, Australia is shutting down pubs, clubs and churches as the number of coronavirus cases begins to climb.
