NZ entering cold and flu season

With all the talk of COVID-19, it’s easy to forget NZ is now entering the normal cold and flu season.

March is typically when people start to notice an uptick in runny noses, blocked noses, and even stronger symptoms.

Here are some simple tips to stay healthy using the weather:

  •   •  Air your home daily by opening windows, let a breeze go through.

  •   •  Use your curtains smartly by closing them early if a cold night is on the way – to trap in the daytime heat thanks to the sun.

  •   •  Get some sunlight on your skin each day, even if only for 5 minutes

  •   •  Keep your home as dry as possible (opening windows to remove condensation for example).

  •   •  Remove black mould the minute you notice it forming on curtains, windows or walls.

  •   •  Go for a 15 to 20 minute walk outside in the fresh air to get your blood circulating and heart rate up.
