The latest exhibition at the Atrium Gallery in Whakamarama has at its heart the desire by the contributing artists to show support for all those affected by the Australian bush fires.

There’s paintings, pottery, resin artworks, mixed media by Lois Isaacs and Nathalie Foster, mosaics, pastels and photography.

“The Black Sheep are holding an event called Bay Rains on March 14, so we thought we’d make our exhibition a fundraiser to support the same cause,” says Atrium Gallery coordinator Birgitt Shannon.

There are 18 artists involved in the month-long exhibition.

“I’ve been donating to the bushfires but when I heard the gallery was doing this I wanted to be involved as well,” says Jane Rochester at the opening launch on Wednesday night.

All artist entry fees and commissions from sold work will be going towards the fundraiser.

“We hope the public will come and support this effort,” says Birgitt.

The exhibition runs from February 26 to March 28 at the Atrium Gallery located at 21 Plummers Point Rd, , and is open from 11am, Wednesday to Sunday.
