Hot temperatures to stay in Tauranga

Summer is coming to an end, but warm temperatures are set to stick around in the Bay this week.

MetService forecaster Andy Tuporo says people can expect “mainly fine weather and light winds” with temperatures reaching 28 degrees.

This is due to a slow-moving ridge of high pressure over the North Island, he says.

Overnight temperatures will hover around 17 degrees.

"I know a lot of people are hanging out for rain, but there's not much moisture in the horizon until next week," he says.

Tauranga residents can expect light showers on Monday, with the temperature high dropping to 26 degrees.

"Moisture is coming through on Monday and there will be rain on Tuesday."

The handheld hose ban in Te Puke was lifted yesterday, however, a sprinkler ban remains in place for Tauranga.
