What‘s on - cruise ships, family fun and Mr G

It’s another ‘two-cruise-ship’ day today with both the Golden Princess and Majestic Princess both in port. The Golden Princess sails out at 5.15pm and the Majestic Princess at 9.30pm.

Expect a mainly fine day today apart from some morning cloud. Southwesterlies will be around, becoming gusty in the afternoon.

It’s a one-to-two-clothing-layer day today with an expected high of 23 degrees and an overnight low of 11 degrees. Sunset is at 8.39pm.

What’s on today?

You’ll find a huge range of gourmet street food and stallholders at the Little Big Market at Coronation Park, Mount Maunganui today from 9am – 2pm, with plenty of live music, and activities for the little ones including a petting zoo and face painting.

Next to Coronation Park is the Pepi Toot train which will be out about today from 10am – 2pm, leaving from Salisbury Ave outside the Spongedrop Cafe. All aboard! Toot! Toot!

AT Memorial Park, Tauranga today from 11am – 1pm, come along and enjoy the ‘Eves More FM Family Fun Zone’. Bring the Family down for an action packed day of Tug of War, Sack Races, three-legged races, egg and spoon races and much more. The Mount New World Summer Essentials Stop off will be there too keeping kids happy with free stuff. Katikati still has their Santa’s Christmas Grotto open daily, across the road at the Katikati Art Junction, so come along and check out Santa’s workshop and other wonderland scenes, as well as meeting Santa himself. More here

Mr G with HOME exhibition at Tauranga Art Gallery

At Tauranga City Library is an opportunity to view ‘Summers past and Christmas presents’, a compilation of amateur films from the archive collections. More information here

The Miles Art Award is now open for entries. Submissions are online. This is the sixth instalment of the biennial awards, with the exhibition to be held at the Tauranga Art Gallery from March 14 – June 7, 2020.  Check out more information here

Shapeshifter, The Upbeats & MC Tiki, Concord Dawn, Sunshine Sound System and State of Mind are all playing at Trustpower Baypark tonight from 7pm.

At Baypark Speedway, starting at 7pm, the International Midget 40 Lap Cold Cup Series Round 2 will be happening. Come and see the midget cars battle it out.
