One seriously injured in Tauranga assault

UPDATE 8.42AM: Police are investigating an incident in the Parkvale area of Tauranga overnight where a man sustained serious injuries.

He was admitted to Tauranga Hospital where he remains, says a police spokesperson.

"Tauranga CIB are making enquiries into the circumstances.

"We are appealing for any information from members of the public who were in the Parkvale area overnight or who may have any information that can help us establish what has occurred."

A scene examination is underway at a Parkvale address today.

Anyone with information relevant to the incident can contact Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.

Non-emergency information can be phoned into the police’s 105 number.

EARLIER:

One person has been seriously injured in an assault in Tauranga.

A SunLive reader emailed us this morning to say there was a stabbing in Surrey Grove at about 11pm.

But police say they don’t have any confirmed details of the incident.

“At this stage, we are aware of an assault in the Parkvale area where one person was reportedly seriously injured.”

Police are investigating the matter.
