Traffic changes on Sunday due to City to Surf

The Mitre 10 MEGA Tauranga City to Surf event is on Sunday

The arrival into port of one of the season’s largest cruise ships, combined with hundreds of people running from Tauranga to Mount Maunganui means business as usual on Sunday for the city’s busy event organisers.

Ovation of the Seas, with a 168666 tonnage, is due to arrive in port on Sunday November 3 at 6.15am. Hundreds of passengers will be disembarking to travel via vans and buses to tourist attractions around the region.

Meanwhile, the Mitre 10 MEGA Tauranga City to Surf event, also being held on Sunday November 3, will have runners starting their half marathon run at 9am from the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club at Sulphur Point.

The Mitre 10 MEGA Tauranga City to Surf event will cause some temporary changes to lanes, parking and the public bus service.

The seaward side of The Mall, from Salisbury Ave to Adams Ave will have a lane closure in place from 8.30am – 10pm. Please note this may open earlier depending on the progress of the event.

There will be parking restrictions in place on the corner of Adams Ave and Marine Parade, opposite Oceanside Resort and Twin Towers from 7am on Sunday, with all parking restored no later than 8.30am. These parking restrictions are in place to accommodate bus parking for the participant shuttle service that will operate on the day.

There will be some disruption to public bus services during the Mitre 10 MEGA event. For further information, please visit www.baybus.co.nz or phone 0800 4 BAYBUS.
