Waimarino Adventure Park is hosting a locals’ day tomorrow to raise funds and awareness for the Waimarino Education Trust.

The trust was established in 2011 to provide safe outdoor programmes for New Zealand school age children.

Its vision is to inspire resilient youth who are passionate about leading their people to a better tomorrow.

More than 9300 children a year go through with their schools to partake in the trust’s education outside the classroom programmes and over 6000 children take part in the after-school and holiday programmes.

The programmes allow children to learn outdoor skills in a safe and controlled environment and grow confidence and self-esteem.

Their moto is confident in the water, confident in life.

During the locals day there will be kayak and rock climbing competitions as well as a sausage sizzle.

There will be spot prizes and a raffle and the top prize is an Avanti mountain bike.

Entry prices for the day are reduced to $20 for an adult, $15 for a child, and family passes are $80.

All proceeds from the day will go to the Waimarino Education Trust.
