The body of a man reported missing in the Bay of Plenty in July has been found.

In a statement released this morning, police say they can confirm that Andrew Gunn was found dead on August 13.

The 28-year-old was last seen wearing a dark jacket and pants on State Highway 38 on July 21.

His family took to social media in attempts to try and locate him.

Search and rescue teams had been scouring the area since he was reported missing and located his body earlier this month.

“We extend our sympathies to his family and friends,” says a police spokesperson.

“The death has been referred to the Coroner.”
