Holistic vet Liza Schneider speaks to Birds BOP
Doctor Liza Schneider is headlining the Birds Bay of Plenty event taking place on Wednesday.
Liza, who grew up in a South African conservation minded-family, moved to New Zealand in 2000 as a newly qualified vet.
Liza enjoyed the challenge of emergency work with small animals, and after becoming interested in complementary therapies, she moved to Tauranga in 2003 to pursue and establish a holistic veterinary practice.
A Bay of Plenty Birds spokesperson says Liza’s passion for helping animals also led to the formation of the Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, or ARRC Wildlife Trust in 2003.
“One of the key activities of the Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre is caring for injured birds.
“This work will be the focus of Liza’s talk at the August meeting.”
With spring just around the corner, it is coming up to the main bird nesting season, and unfortunately birds’ nests are vulnerable to extreme weather events and are often attacked by predators, leaving young in need of care.
Liza will talk about the work of the wildlife trust and how individuals can help stressed or injured birds to support the wildlife that lives alongside us.
The talk begins at 7pm at the Tauranga Historical Society behind the Brain Watkins house at 233 Cameron Road.
Anyone is welcome and it is a gold coin donation.
