Safety improvements on the way for SH2

There may be some delays as the works are carried out. Image: NZTA Facebook.

Over the next two weeks, motorists who travel along State Highway 2 from Waihi to Omokoroa will see roading activity just south of Katikati.

“We’re locating underground services for the SH2 Waihi to Omokoroa safety improvements project,” says the NZTA Waikato BOP Facebook page.

“The hydrovac truck uses high pressure water to safely expose the services without any digging.

“For the next two weeks you’ll see activity south of Katikati, between Wharawhara and Sharp roads, Monday-Friday between 9am and 4pm.”

Road safety

Aren’t the safety barriers supposed to be in the middle of the road. The cheese cutter barrier at Waihi seems to be protecting the farmers fences not oncoming traffic. How does this make the road safe.

Omokoroa to town?

Good to know they are upgrading the least busy section of sh2 first. What about the busiest - omokoroa to tauanga? This government killed off well advanced plans to upgrade sh2 north. They now have no timeline to do anything on this section of sh2. What a hopeless policy.
