Running along the Blue and Green Lakes is only part of the 3D Rotorua Multisport Festival tomorrow.

This festival of events is attracting approximately 800 participants from across New Zealand to enjoy some of the best paddling lakes, running and mountain biking trails the country has to offer.

The 3D Rotorua Multisport Festival is an annual event held in early June each year over the Queen’s Birthday Weekend.

All courses are designed for complete beginners to weekend warriors and elite athletes to challenge themselves as little or as much as they wish amongst the beautiful surroundings – as well as having a lot of fun.

With the event Hub at the Blue Lake Reserve, it’s very easy for those taking part to be self-sufficient in transition and at the same time lots of fun for all support crew and spectators whilst cheering on and watching the events unfold.

This festival also doubles up as the New Zealand Multisport Championships and New Zealand Secondary Schools Multisport Championships.

There are ten events for all the family to enjoy at the beautiful Lake Tikitapu and Whaka Forest including a 50km and 30km multisport challenges, 9km and 4.km kayak events, a 40km duathlon for teams and individuals, a 30km mountain bike event, a half marathon run and walk, a 10.5km run and walk, a 5.5km run and walk, and a 2km fun run for the under ten-year-olds.

The 10.5km trail takes runners and walkers alongside the Blue and Green Lakes, providing stunning views.

The event kicks off on race day at 7.30am at the Blue Lake Reserve in Tarawera Rd, with races begin from 9.30am onwards. The awards ceremony will be held from 6pm onwards.
