Bay of Plenty Regional Council will roll-out re-instated bus routes 41, 36 and 71 over the next six weeks in Tauranga.

Following public feedback route 41 from Maungatapu to the CBD will begin on June 24, operating during the off-peak period. Route 36 from Pāpāmoa via Maungatapu to the CBD will service Maungatapu during peak times for commuters from July 8.

Route 71 from Matua via Brookfield will resume on July 8. The current Route 70 will continue to provide a direct service from Matua along Ngatai Road for passengers travelling during peak times only.

Regional Council Strategy and Science General Manager Namouta Poutasi says it has been a joint effort between Council and contractor NZ Bus to get the routes up and running.

“Changes to the Employment Relations Act around bus driver rest and meal breaks meant we had to delay the services until we had certainty around the new timetables,” Ms Poutasi says.

The new routes and timetables can be found on www.baybus.co.nz

Doesn't work for me

Stopped using the bus now unless desperate as getting to the hospital from Pyes Pa takes twice a long in both directions as it used to with the old bus routes . Three buses now instead of two doesn’t help if the bus are mostly empty. Going to the mount was also much easier. So back to the car especially now winter is here as changing buses not only makes the journeys longer time wise but have to endure the weather too.. Last time I saw a bus two the same came at once ! great.
