HMNZS Canterbury is making its way into Tauranga water today – the second Navy vessel to visit the region in a week.

The 9000 tonne military ship will remain in port until May 27.

HMNZS Canterbury is a multi-role vessel of the Royal New Zealand Navy.

She was commissioned in June 2007, and is the second ship of the Royal New Zealand Navy to carry the name.

She is also New Zealand's first purpose-built strategic sealift ship.

The boat’s visit to Tauranga today follows that of HMNZS Wellington, which cruised into Tauranga last week.

SunLive was able to take a tour of Wellington and speak with some of the crew onboard.

Watch the video above to see how it all went done.
