Mount fundraising dinner for Christchurch families
A Mount Maunganui restaurant is hosting a special dinner to raise money for the families affected by the shootings in Christchurch.
Helen Fraser from Bettie Monroe is no stranger to hosting charity events as she does it every year.
She was walking along the beach last week feeling devastated following the events in Christchurch.
“I’d just seen the faces and read the stories of the victims, and so many of them were parents. They had left behind young children, and wives who depended on them. As a mother myself, I was so touched by this. I realised I wanted to organise something right away to help these families,” she says.
With support of her brother Mike Fraser and his partner Lloyd Rooney - who own Fire Restaurant - along with their staff and friends, Helen has pulled out all the stops to put this special fundraising event together.
“It’s an opportunity for people to unite and show their support, while enjoying a fabulous three course meal prepared by Lloyd and his team of amazing chefs. There will also be a fashion show and special auctions, all in the gorgeous upstairs setting at Fire Restaurant,” says Helen.
Local businesses have supported the event in a big way by donating vouchers and products which Helen has bundled to be auctioned on the night.
“The generosity has been amazing. We have pamper packages for ladies, men and for couples, as well as a health and wellbeing package that people can bid on, and more auction items are most welcome,” she says.
Will Johnson from The Hits Bay of Plenty will be MC-ing the event, and Helen says it’s going to be a specular night.
If you would like to attend, or if you can donate an item for the auction, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
