Heavy rain warnings issued

Tauranga residents should expect more rain in the coming days.

Heavy rain warnings have been issued to many parts of the country.

A Metservice spokesperson says an active front is forecast to move quickly across the country from the west on Monday.

“There will be a strong and moist northerly flow, then followed by an unsettled and relatively cool southwest flow on Tuesday as the front moves away to the east.”

Metservice says it is likely a heavy rain warning will be required for the central North Island high country, while the risk for the ranges of eastern Bay of Plenty and Gisborne extends into Tuesday.

Tauranga residents should prepare for two more days of wet weather, as the rain looks to clear early Tuesday morning.
