Car smashes into power box near Aongatete

A vehicle crashing into a power box caused a power outage near Aongatete overnight.

Around 70 properties were without power for several hours as a result of the crash.

A police spokesperson says officers a single vehicle hit a power box on Morton Road, just north of Prestidge Road, around 8.40pm.

“Some power lines reportedly came down.

“The sole occupant of the vehicle was checked out by ambulance but did not appear to have particularly serious injuries from what I can tell.”

The road was not blocked.

Police are investigating the crash.
