Temperatures may be a lot cooler in the Bay of Plenty today, but that doesn’t mean there still isn’t a risk of fires.

Firefighters were called to small scrub fires in Mount Manganui this morning.

Fire and Emergency northern communications shift manger Carren Larking says the fires were along the train tracks on Plateau Heights.

“There were some small scrub fires along the railway tracks but was nothing major.”

The scrub fires are believed to be flare ups of the fires that were along the railway tracks in Mount Maunganui yesterday.
