A man facing 19 sexual related charges, some with girls less than 12- years -old, has had his name suppression lifted by Tauranga District Court.

He’s 56-year-old Sydney Ngatai of Te Teko.

The Crown had applied for the name suppression to be lifted when the accused appeared in court on Wednesday.

Ngatai’s lawyer didn’t object, saying there’s no grounds to argue the continuation of name suppression.

He’s already appeared in court several times.

Ngatai’s charges include rape, unlawful sexual connection and indecent acts on girls less than 12- years- old and girls between 12 and 16-years.

He’s also facing charges of inducing sexual connection by threat.

A trial date has yet to be set, but is expected to be either in May or November this year.

Ngatai has been remanded on bail until his next court appearance.
