Bridge's Fault?

Posted on 02-01-2018 08:26 | By clingon

We are not talking about Simon this time but a structure over a body of water that thousands of cars cross each day. I travelled over this route just the other day and while i was on it a car passed me going the other direction. When i got home i checked and as i thought: no damage what so ever on my car! Volcanos are dangerous because they are unpredictable- this bridge is totally predictable. If both lanes of traffic stay on the correct side of the road every one gets along just fine. Whether it’s a bridge, narrow or wide or a road, narrow or wide if you crash into another car or it crashes into you the chance of serious injury is high. My guess: speed restrictions imposed to penalise everybody till they sort it out...

No such thing as dangerous bridge

Just the people that use it... Kiwis need to learn to drive to the conditions....

Well spoken Groutby.

Maungatapu Bridge.........

....is a two laned road no more no less...has been for many years...follow the road rules etc and the bridge itself is perfectly safe if approached in the correct way, which (my understanding) has been addressed by the recent work. In an ’ideal’ situation, ALL bridges would be widened/upgraded etc but expense simply does not allow this to happen. If and when we get the facts in regard to this fatality, we may indeed find that the bridge itself played little or no part in this tragedy. My sympathy to family and friends of the deceased and sincere thanks to emergency services involved....

Dangerous Bridge

Transit has just spent a lot of money on the eastern side of this bridge. While I dont know what caused this tragedy, we all know this narrow bridge is a problem. Expensive tinkering on the edges of the bridge wont solve this dangerous bridge.
