It’s set to be the Bay’s biggest summer yet.

With a packed schedule featuring international sporting events, some of the hottest musicians, cruise ships and festivals, who could argue?

Because while the Bay of Plenty remains the beloved location for the annual holiday migration, it’s also become the capital of summer events.

Now, and over the next few months, our wonderful region will be teeming with people enjoying the best of the Bay.

Especially over Auckland Anniversary which we believe will be the busiest weekend of the year in Tauranga, with accommodation at capacity.

Over that weekend alone (January 26-28), there are five cruise ships expected. Tauranga will also be a sporting haven with the stunning Bay Oval hosting three international cricket ODIs – the BLACKCAPS and WHITEFERNS taking on India – and Round Two of the NZ JetSprint Championship Series at TrustPower Baypark.

One Love and Good Vibes will also be long weekend hotspots for festival-goers, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Slash is set to rock the house.

We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to the Bay of Plenty and encourage them to get out and about, enjoying everything our region has to offer.

And it would be great if you could help us share our love of “our place”.

We know you can, with our region scoring among the highest local friendliness satisfaction rate in New Zealand from passengers surveyed on cruise ships by cruise lines, thanks to a Cruise Critic survey earlier this year.

It is this pride and passion for the region, from both those who live here and visit, that ensures our visitors will leave with a vibrant lasting memory of the region.

Doing so will help make your local community a better place, not just for visitors but also for you.
