Throughout the series, host Simon Barnett has set families a range of unique, original and diverse team challenges with the goal for the most successful family to win the inaugural XVenture Family Challenge and the prize of $25,000.

The 16 families were chosen from a major search across the nation including 50 ecostore Roadshow community events, communication with 650 schools, sports clubs, performing arts groups, associations and local councils. Families in the series come from: Russell, Greymouth, Tauranga, Hamilton, Dunedin, Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, Ashburton, Nelson and Rotorua.

The series sees families being provided with expert help throughout the programme with both mental and physical challenges.

Creator and director of the programme Mike Conway says the aim is to see families grow, learn and develop together throughout the series in a supportive environment.

“This is an exciting positive, high energy show for all the family, set at the beautiful Eagles Nest, Russell in the Bay of Islands,” he says. “Supporting partners include Eagles Nest, Chantal Organics and Huckleberry.”

This week's episode airing on Sunday march 18 at 5.30pm on Three, is the second semi-final.

This week's semi- final features one family, Team Browne, proudly representing Tauranga competing against three other families – Team Maioha representing Northland, Team Holland representing Auckland and Team Musson representing Christchurch.

Team Browne is represented by Phil (dad), Christine (mum), Georgia (daughter) and Caleb (son). They have a chance to join other local Tauranga family, Team Hemana (who won their semi-final last week) in the final.
