Motorbike chase ends in arrest

A motorcyclist who led police on a chase through Tauranga overnight has been arrested.

The chase, which reached speeds of more than 40km/h over the posted speed limit at times, started in Fraser Street just before 8pm and ended in Oropi Road about 20 minutes later.

People who witnessed the chase, emailed SunLive to say they saw the bike and police go down Turret Road towards the Maungatapu roundabout.

A police spokesperson says the chase went through to the Oropi area, where the man was eventually arrested.

She says at one point, the motorcyclist was doing 90km/h in a 50km/h zone.

Unfortunately going over the speed limit along Oropj road is normal I should know I live here.The drama ended not far from my property and all I can say is the person on the motorbike in just one needle in the hay bale (stack).
