At least two vehicles have been involved in a crash outside a Papamoa kindergarten, with one of the drivers leaving the scene.

A police spokesperson says emergency services were informed of the crash at 1.23pm, between Dickson Road and Grant Place.

A reporter at the scene says it looks as though a car has come through the intersection the wrong way, hitting another vehicle, before ‘spinning out' and hitting a tree.

“There's an elderly woman who was being treated by ambulance staff, and has now left in an ambulance.”

He says the car has come to a stop just outside Papamoa Coast Kindergarten.

The driver of the vehicle believed to be responsible for the crash has apparently left the scene, with police currently following lines of enquiry.
