A 14-year-old boy has been arrested by police in relation to the aggravated robbery of a Gull Service Station in Whakatane on Monday.

The robbery happened at the Gull Service Station on the corner of Domain Road and King Street, Whakatane.   An offender carrying a weapon entered the service station at approximately 12.40am, says Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Standen.

The alleged offender threatened the forecourt attendant and robbed the service station of a yet to be determined amount of cash.

The teenager has been charged with aggravated robbery and will appear in Whakatane Youth Court today.

“Police would like to thank those members of the community who provided information which helped us quickly identify and locate the alleged offender,” says police.

Why else would he make identification so easy. Note to self 'Must wear loud jacket next time I rob a service station'.

Enterprising young upstanding citizen

What an upstanding, intelligent young man. Destroying others property, petty crime soon grows into more serious and too often, sinister crimes. lock him up, throw away the key. Better still, cut off his fingers like they do in asia, oh, wait, then he will bleed our benefit system. No win situation I guess, police wont do much, parents obviously could give a ^&*%, guess thats the reason he's doing this crap.

Fully agree. Charge the parents with lack of supervision. Make parents more accountable for knowing where the kids are and what they are up to. Too many young kids wandering the streets late at night and the parents don't seem to give a damn.

we know

Oh well, he's only 14 and nothing will happen. We all know how our "justice" system works....or doesn't.

what was a 14 year old doing out at that time of the morning. this is a good case to charge the parents of failing to control their kids and failing to know where they are
