A restricted driver running a red light crashed with two other vehicles at the intersection of Fraser Street and 15th Ave.
The three car crash delayed peak hour traffic yesterday evening.
Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager acting Senior Sergeant Wayne Hunter says the driver was taken to Tauranga Hospital's emergency department.
He says she discharged herself before she was seen by medical staff.
The accident happened at 5.50pm. Police have no reports of other drivers being injured.
Wayne says the driver also had a passenger in the ute she was driving at the time of the crash.
“That why we have graduated licences, because of this type of thing."
Police have the driver's details and checked her for alcohol consumption before she was taken to hospital, says Wayne.
Alcohol was not involved.
Meanwhile, police attended the scene of a single-car crash where a vehicle rolled several times down a hill last night.
A police media spokesperson says the crash happened on State Highway 2 in Poike, near Welcome Bay Road at about 8.30pm.
“A witness saw the vehicle swerve off the road before rolling down a hill. The vehicle rolled several times down the hill.
“No other vehicle was involved.”
